“They were supposed to keep us safe,” General Metzt said. “Safe as goddamn houses. What went wrong?”

Dr. Hayward frowned. “Well, that’s hard to say. They haven’t exactly been aggressive…”

“They shot down the SEAL team!”

“To be fair, they were clear in their message. They won’t tolerate military actions of any sort. Anywhere.”

“We didn’t build a million bloody robots to sit around and take tea! They’re supposed to be stopping bad things from happening.”

“Yes, general. And I think they’ve decided that they are.”
