I hear you! There are so many people who ended up with that issue. And, if you're stuck in an ecosystem... Apple's not the worst. I'd prefer it over Microsoft, Google, or Samsung, certainly. If you ever wanted to explore beyond it, I'd pick up a cheap laptop second hand and maybe try out Linux Mint? Relatively simple to learn and could be a fun side project/hobby instead of a major investment. Then, if you liked it, that could be a slow transition gateway.
